Day 27- Sligo to Dublin with stops in Longford and Offaly (the Tullamore DEW Distillery)

|

Heading back to Dublin today and decided to make a few stops on the way. The first stop was in Longford for breakfast. I went to a café called Moments, unfortunately they didn’t have any scones so I ordered pancakes and bacon (not the bacon or fluffy pancakes I was expecting, but it was still pretty good). Then I walked around Longford for a bit, it’s a cute little town that I definitely wouldn’t mind spending more time in – although one of the shopkeepers asked me if I got lost and that’s how I ended up in Longford. After Longford I headed to the Tullamore DEW Distillery in Offaly. I have to say, if there is one distillery tour you’re going to do in Ireland, do this one! It’s about an hour and a half outside of Dublin and is well worth it. The whiskey is delicious, the tour is fun, and the people are so nice!

I hate coffee… but my desire to not waste whiskey overrides that hatred, so I choked it down, still don’t like coffee but it’s not as bad with a few ounces of whiskey.
Our tour guide offered to take our photos on the factory floor
She said I looked lonely so she asked to take a selfie with me 🙂
They let you blend your ow whiskey using a little quiz that finds out your ideal tastes, mine has notes of apples and cinnamon.

After Tullamore it was time to make my way back to Dublin to check in to my castle hotel! I am staying two nights at the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel. It is beautiful! I highly recommend a stay here. I was able to pre-pay for dinner and breakfast and I also ordered afternoon tea one day.
